NodeTool vs Figma Weave

The open-source alternative to Figma Weave.

Figma Weave — the canvas formerly known as Weavy — is a polished hosted tool with a curated frontier-model roster, billed in its own AI credits and moving deeper into the Figma platform. NodeTool covers the same node-based media workflows in the open: AGPL-3.0 source, BYOK at provider prices, a desktop app you can run offline with local models, and workflows and files that stay yours.

Own the canvas, not a seat in an ecosystem

Acquisitions change products: pricing, model rosters, and roadmaps for Figma Weave now follow Figma's platform strategy, and your workflows live on their servers either way. NodeTool takes the opposite bet. The whole workspace is open source under AGPL-3.0, workflows are files you own, and models are called with your own API keys at each provider's published price — or run locally with Ollama, MLX, and llama.cpp. If the tool changes direction, you keep the code, the graphs, and the keys.

Build on a canvas nobody can acquire.
